TikTok engagement rate calculator
Work out how strongly people react to your TikTok videos, measured against views and against followers. Type the numbers in, or pull them from a public account.
What the engagement rate tells you
Engagement rate is the share of viewers who did something: liked, commented or shared. It is the clearest single number for whether your videos land. Two accounts with the same views can have very different rates, and brands, collaborators and TikTok’s own recommendations all respond better to the higher one.
Divide by views, or by followers?
Some guides divide by followers. On TikTok that is less useful, because the For You feed shows your videos to people who don’t follow you, sometimes far more of them than your followers. So this tool leads with the rate by views, and gives the follower-based figure as a second reading.
How to read your result
- Under 2% of views: people watch but rarely react. Look at your hooks and calls to action.
- 2% to 5%: a common range for many accounts.
- 5% to 10%: healthy; viewers are responding.
- Over 10%: very strong, often on niche or community content.
These bands are our own rule of thumb. Compare against your own past videos more than against anyone else.
Using an account lookup
The optional lookup reads a public profile’s follower count and its total likes divided by its videos, which gives a rough average of likes per video. Views, comments and shares aren’t shown on a profile, so add those from one typical video.
Lifting the figure
Ask a specific question at the end of the video, reply to early comments, and make videos people want to send to a friend. Our guide to the For You page explains why those signals matter.
Where bought numbers fit
Bought followers raise the follower count but not the interactions, so they lower the rate against followers. Bought likes raise likes on one video. If you use like packs, keep them in proportion to views, which the ratio tool checks.
