How many followers do you need for TikTok LIVE and Creator Rewards?
Two numbers come up again and again: 1,000 followers for LIVE and 10,000 for Creator Rewards. Here is what each unlocks, what else TikTok checks, and how to confirm the current rules.

Check the app firstTikTok sets and changes these rules without much notice. The figures below are what TikTok has typically required; the eligibility screens in your app are the final word.
Going LIVE: the 1,000-follower line
TikTok has generally required 1,000 followers before you can start a LIVE, along with an age of at least 18. The exact threshold has varied by region and over time, and some accounts get access differently. To check, open TikTok, tap the plus button and look for the LIVE option; if it isn’t there, the app usually tells you why.
Gifts on LIVE
Viewers can send virtual gifts during a LIVE, which convert to rewards for the creator. TikTok sets its own age and eligibility rules for receiving gifts, and they can be stricter than the rules for going LIVE at all. Check the current terms in the app’s LIVE settings.
Creator Rewards: 10,000 followers and more
TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program pays for qualifying videos. The requirements TikTok has published include being 18 or over, at least 10,000 followers, at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, an account in good standing and being in a supported country, which has included the UK. Videos also need to meet length and originality rules to qualify.
Why followers alone won’t get you paid
Followers are one condition among several, and the others can’t be bought from us or anyone honest. The view requirement, the originality rules and the “qualified views” TikTok actually pays on all depend on real people watching real videos. A pack like 10,000 followers can take care of the follower number, but if your videos don’t reach six figures of views a month, the programme stays closed.
TikTok Shop and affiliate selling
TikTok Shop’s affiliate programme in the UK lets creators earn commission on products they feature. TikTok has set follower minimums for it that have changed over time, sometimes in the thousands, alongside age and account requirements. As with LIVE, the in-app eligibility screen is the reliable source. Remember that affiliate content needs an ad label; see our UK #ad rules guide.
A realistic route to the thresholds
- Under 1,000: focus on posting consistently; a proportionate pack such as 1,000 followers can close a small gap to LIVE.
- 1,000 to 10,000: go LIVE regularly, build series and reply to comments, which all deepen engagement.
- Near 10,000: track your 30-day views; that is usually the harder condition.
- Always: keep the account in good standing, avoid reposted content, and label ads.
